Steve has been a lawyer practicing in Portland, Oregon, since 1980. The first 10 years of his legal practice involved representing labor unions and performing collections work for employee benefit plans. For the past 20 years, his legal practice has involved representing trustees of multiemployer health, pension and training funds in the areas of fiduciary responsibility, compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, HIPAA, benefits litigation, drafting plan documents, negotiation of service provider contracts, and collection of delinquent fringe benefit contributions. Steve has been asked to speak on a regular basis at the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans' annual benefits conference.
